2026 Metropolis International Migration Network Conference

Bringing together global thought leaders, policymakers, and scholars from more than 50 countries, this year’s conference theme is Rethinking African Mobility: Past Lessons, Present Realities, Future Possibilities.

Hosted by the Centre for Migration Studies - UG at the University of Ghana, in partnership with Metropolis and the African Union, the conference theme invites participants to move beyond conventional, Western-centric frameworks and contribute to conversations about the future of African migration governance.

Through discussions, roundtables, and parallel sessions, the conference will address some of today’s most pressing migration issues, including forced displacement and humanitarian crises, externalized border controls, labour mobility and regional integration, migration and development, migration and health, and diaspora engagement.

The event will take place in person at the University of Ghana on 18-20 November, 2026. The cost to attend varies depending on OECD membership status and role at the conference, starting with $25 CAD tickets for Africa-based students. More information is available here.
