German-Syrian Association (DSV e.V.)

The German-Syrian Association for the Promotion of Freedoms and Human Rights (DSV) is a German, non-profit recognized non-governmental organization and was founded in 2011 by Syrians and Germans of Syrian origin. It arose from the will to support the people of Syria in their commitment to freedom and democracy. The headquarters of the DSV is in Darmstadt. Since its foundation, the DSV has been providing emergency humanitarian aid in Syria and development aid for Syrian refugees and displaced persons in neighbouring countries – Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon and most recently in Germany. Ideologically and denominationally unbound, the DSV is active in areas where help is urgently needed. Through close contact with Syrians in the war zone and the border region, the need for humanitarian aid measures can be precisely determined. A trusting network in Syria and neighbouring countries guarantees that the aid arrives where it is really needed – for the needy, the needy, the seriously injured, the sick and people with disabilities. The DSV is particularly committed to the promotion of health, the maintenance of health care in Syria and the improvement of the health situation of Syrian refugees in Turkey. In addition, one focus of the DSV is on improving the educational situation of Syrian refugees. The DSV promotes the construction of schools in the crisis area and organises training and further education opportunities for Syrian refugees in Turkey.
